Prayer Spaces

We offer a Rewind to Easter Extension lesson which examines what Easter means to Christians and brings in the themes of love and forgiveness.

The session includes looking at Salvador Dali's , craft that explains the Christian understanding of why Jesus died on the cross and an opportunity for questions at the end.

We are looking to write a similar Rewind to Christmas lesson.

What are prayer spaces like?

Prayer spaces in schools are;

Christian

Prayer spaces are rooted in broadly Christian traditions of prayer, whilst allowing children and young people to respond individually and draw their own conclusions.

Spiritual

Prayer spaces inspire a sense of awe and wonder in children and young people, about how they perceive themselves, how they relate with others, and how they engage with the world around them. Prayer spaces encourage the development of the non-material aspect of human nature , sometimes called the spirit or soul and allow space to engage with life’s “big questions” in the quest for purpose and meaning, and in the development of a sense of identity, self-worth and personal insight.

PrayerfulReflectiveInclusive, Creative and Accessible

A Partnership

Prayer spaces work with schools and others to ensure that they provide the best possible experiences for children and young people.

Professional

Prayer spaces pursue excellence and work to national standards, with reference to the educational curriculum of each nation.

Safe

Prayer spaces ensure that children and young people feel safe and are effectively protected from harm.

We work with local schools to deliver assemblies that run in line with their Collective Worship Planning.  These are interactive, involving a game, storytelling and multi media.

We have recently begun looking at Prayer Spaces within on of the schools where we take assemblies.

In this context we have linked the Prayer Spaces, set up in corridors around the school, to the theme of the assemblies for the half term.

The photo to the left shows the fingerprints of children and a name of someone they are thinking/praying about.
